Well, the first winter storm has just unleashed its rage throughout Southern Utah, dumping a few inches of snow. With lakes and streams freezing up, its time for evening hot cocoa and a lot of time on the vice. I hope to post many fly tying articles throughout this winter. In hopes that I can teach others, and I myself become a better tyer. To start things off, I have listed an easy sculpin pattern. It is a knock off of Davie McPhail's sculpin. If you are a fly tyer you will most likely have heard his name. If not, you better check him out. The guy is a genius at the vice, and has great videos. The only difference in this pattern is that I did not use a sculpin helmet for the head. Instead, I used Fly Tyers Dungeon Bull Frawg dubbing. Happy tying.
