March is here. You know what that means? Time for the IF4 film fest! I look forward to this show every year. Great films, good vibes, lots of fishy dudes, prizes, and good company keep me coming back year after year. This year, the family was going with me. I was excited, yet scared thinking my ten month old would not do well through the show (turns out she actually did pretty well-she watched the first couple films and then slept through most of the rest). My wife is super awesome and took great care of her having had to get up and go to the back and rock her back to sleep a couple times. Overall, she did better than expected.

I was really excited this year because there were three films who were submitted by different Utah groups. The films featured consisted of arctic char, tuna, and high country trout. My personal favorite being the latter- submitted by Nathan Leavitt of
outsmartingfish. To me, this film captured the true beauty of what fly fishing is all about- the journey, friends, wildlife, strategy, and early mornings. I related to this film the most. Watching it brought back a lot of my own personal memories, and made me really want to go fishing. Check out the trailer
here.
I ended up not winning any prizes this year, but did come away with plenty of stickers and a sweet print from Tim Johnson. Got a good deal on fly line at Cabelas as well.
